Texas hold’em was first played in Dallas, Texas in 1925. It is one of the first games that have become a spectator gambling sport. You can watch Texas heold’em being played on television many times throughout a single season on most sports channels.
The basic rules of Texas hold’em are as follows; you have 2 cards and there are 5 community cards. Out of those 7 cards you have to make a 5 card combination that has to be higher than all the other hands of the other players. The betting portion of Texas hold’em is pretty straight forward. There is one ante and 3 chances to rise. You can also call “all in” where everyone puts in all there money. This betting in Texas hold’em all happens in a clockwise fashion.
Now it is time to play, but before the dealer gives out the cards the players on the left of the dealer have to place the 2 blinds, the small blind and the big blind into the pot.
The dealer then hands each player there 2 cards face down. There cards are called the hole cards. The game then starts with the player next to the big blind.
They have 3 choices at this point. They can fold, they can bet, or they can raise. That then triggers the first betting round and continues to all of the other players.
After the first betting round is completed the dealer flips over 3 of the community cards. This is called the flop. Then the second round of betting begins. The player now has an idea of what kind of hand he or she will have when the game is all over and all the betting is over. Each player again has the choice to bet, raise, or fold if they are the first person to start the betting. If not then they cannot bet but they can call or bet the same amount as the person before them.
The dealer then turns around another of the community cards. This is the fourth cards that have turned over so each player now has 6 cards to choose from to create a winning hand. This is also called “The turn”. Then the third round of betting begins, starting from the first person on the left of the button.
The last card is then turned after the third round of betting is completed. This portion of Texas hold’em is called “The River”. After this the final round of betting occurs. After this the last round of betting occurs and then everyone reveals there cards. Everyone can now see who has the best combination of there 2 personal cards and any 3 of the 5 community cards.
