Card Ranking
In several games you are required to create combinations which choose the
winner of the game.
Each combination is ranked differently. These ranks are placed in order from
lowest rank to highest rank below:
LOW RANKING COMBO'S
High card - When you get your hand
dealt to you and you have no pattern to your cards at all you rank your hand
with the highest card. This is the lowest rank and if you get this had after
you have gone through 2 rounds of betting you better fold. In case of ties
the high card will break it.
Pair - This is when out of the 5 cards
2 of the cards are the same in *number or face. This is the second lowest
ranking. But be sure that if you have a pair it may still be a good idea to
keep these cards and bet again. You may end up with a higher rank.
2 pair - When you have 2 pairs. This
is simple enough; you have 2 cards that are the same and another 2 cards
that are the same. Now if you have all for cards of one *suite you have a
completely new rank that is much higher.
3 of a kind - when you have 3 cards
that are the same suite. The other 2 cards are unrelated in suite or
number/face.
5 CARD COMBINATIONS
Straight - In a straight you use all 5
cards to create a straight you all cards have to be consecutive with
different suit's, meaning that you have to have cards ace,1,2,3,4 or
9,10,jack, queen, king to have a straight.
Flush - To create this 5 card combo
all you're hand needs is identical suites. The order of the cards are not
important
Full House - This one combines 2 of
the smaller combinations. To create this hand all you need to do is have a
pair and a three of a kind
Four Of a Kind - To create this you
need to have the 4 cards of one value. For example all the 5's. Remember the
2 pair? This like 2 pairs of a card with the same value.
Straight Flush - This is one of the
best hands in the game. If you have one I recommend that you bet everything
you have on that table. The chances someone will beat you is pretty slim. To
create one you have to combine a straight and a flush, meaning your 5 cards
have to have the same vale and suite.
Royal Flush - The mother of all hands.
The royal flush is the most improbable hands to achieve. The cards you need
are 5 specific cards in the deck of 52, so you can imagine its no very
probable that you will get it. To create a royal flush you have to have 10,
jack, queen, king, and ace of spades.
*This is very important information if you want to play poker. If you do not
memorize this then when you play you will not be able to take your original
had and strategically remove cards that will give you the winning rank.*
